Assembly is a school for future youtubers, telemedicine professionals, developers, coders, gamers, etc. Active Media was given the challenge of developing a brand and website.

Evolution and growth of the brand

Traditional education is still not adapted to the needs of the technologies of the future, because the pace of social and professional change is increasing, because technology will be present in all professional areas, because knowing how to read and write code will be equivalent to knowing a foreign language once. Assembly is the School of Technology for Future Professionals in Portugal.

The Assembly brand is very new and was only launched with a basic project. Now that it is gaining wings, it challenged Active Media to build a new brand identity and create communication elements that allow it to evolve and develop graphic pieces that reflect its personality and positioning.

Our mission was to communicate their philosophy and very unique teaching methodology based on individual learning, where each student defines their learning path over time, without losing focus on making this teaching method credible to parents.

We set out to evolve the design rather than revolutionize it. In this way, we kept a shape by making it less complex and used a rounder typeface for the brand's signature, in order to fit in better with the type of audience we were communicating with.

"The Assembly's identity, values and history needed to be materialized, and in this sense the creation of a brandbook was essential to ensure the coherence of the brand's foundations."

The Assembly's mission

GIVE TO STUDENTS:

  • SKILLS

  • TEACHERS, SPACE

  • PROJECTS

Showing her students that each student is unique and so is their learning path.

Every 3 months in the assembly, the student decides whether to continue along their initial path or to enter another path in order to experience new knowledge. Young people are thus encouraged to explore and open up various paths, with the help of their teachers and sponsors.

The visual identity of the assembly

We reinforced the emphasis on Assembly's major areas by creating 4 identifying icons so that the thematic basis of each could be easily perceived.

Identity takes shape when it unfolds in the major areas, defining the personality of each one.

The vivid combination of cores, fonts, icons, patterns and photographs creates an eclectic yet harmonious identity. The Assembly philosophy is thus reflected in this welcoming, lively, fun, open-minded and ambitious new design.

Digital design

Social networks

For an assembly, a futures school, social networks are one of the main points of communication with its public. Through them it creates connections and boundaries.

Here, too, Active Media has outlined the main lines of communication, where stories are given great prominence, based on all the iconography and technological, youthful and fun design.

Website: more keywords to get us where we want to go

The Assembly's registration process and its program can be dealt with in person but also online. Therefore, designing a functional website for the school was key. Most people are not familiar with the concept of the Assembly's teaching methodology, so the website is fundamental to the idea behind the school.

O new site proposes a re-organization of the information architecture of the old site. As a result, all the previous information has been divided into five new sections: Methodology, Tech Spaces, Activities, Assembly and Contacts.

Interior signage

The final part of the design process was the creation of signage for the interior of the school. Assembly is located in the vibrant urban district of Alvalade, in Lisbon, and offers the best facilities, with the best equipment for practicing and strengthening one's technological skills.

Many of the doors in the space were only painted black and it wasn't clear what each student could find on the other side, so we created a family of pictograms to help with signposting inside the school.
