Let's talk about sex with disability? Let's. A person with a disability has the right to pleasure and a sexual life. Of course they do. And so it will begin.
Sex in motor disability? Let's confront our prejudices. When we think of disabled people, the image of the “poor thing” awakens in us… either because they can't move, because they're not autonomous, because they depend, because they're not capable.
And it is always with this prejudice that we look at a disabled person. We excuse ourselves from saying no.
We rarely consider accessibility issues until the day our normal routine is disrupted. Strollers, walks, and obstacles? Yes, at that moment we are supportive. We twist a foot and it becomes hard to walk, same for the other. An arm across the chest? But life is much more than that.
Vitor Hugo Costa from Metafilmes lança-nos a challenge. “I want to make a documentário about sexuality in motor disability. Help?”. And after contextualizing us, aceitámos the challenge.
Can a person with a disability have an active sexual life? Let's set aside prejudices. They can, should, and need to, just like anyone else. Motor disability does not eliminate desire and sexual need. It's our most physical and carnal side, it's the same for everyone. And this is the direction of the documentary.
We can't say much more for now. Just that we have created the project's first identity and the first motion graphics, which are part of the teaser that will be presented at the competition. But we are hoping to be approved and move on to the next stage, that's where we are.
For now we are sharing the two animations we can show, just to whet the appetite.
When permitted, we will show the trailer and provide more news about the project. Other than that, you already know, if anything, just ask.
